BCCI’s Centre of Excellence Welcomes Applications for Crucial Spin Bowling Coach Position
The BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE), previously known as the National Cricket Academy and now located in Bengaluru, is on the lookout for a new spin bowling coach. This opening follows the resignation of Sairaj Bahutule who left to join the IPL team Rajasthan Royals earlier this year.
Role and Expectations
The incoming coach will play a pivotal role in enhancing the spin bowling prowess of Indian cricket at all levels. This includes working with the Men’s and Women’s Senior Teams, India A, and youth teams across U-23, U-19, U-16, and U-15 levels, as well as assisting state association players training at the COE.
Collaborative Responsibilities
The selected candidate will collaborate extensively with other cricketing experts including selectors, national and state coaches, performance analysts, and strength & conditioning specialists. VVS Laxman, Head of Cricket at COE, will be directly overseeing the role, ensuring strategic alignment of special coaching programs and performance monitoring plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Impactful rehabilitation and match fitness certification for injured players.
- Execution of innovative training sessions and technical coaching on an individual basis.
- Development of tailored, measurable objectives for player improvements.
Professional Expertise and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should either be a former Indian player or have substantial experience as a first-class cricketer, with a minimum of 75 matches. Moreover, proficiency in biomechanics and data analysis tools like GPS devices is essential. A BCCI level 2 or 3 coaching certification will be preferred to qualify for this prestigious role.
This represents a significant opportunity for a high-performance coach to contribute to the development of national talent and enhance India’s competitive edge in international cricket.
