With the unexpected injury to Gaikwad, the legendary MS Dhoni has temporarily taken over the captaincy. However, the team urgently needed a proficient batter to fill the void, leading to Mhatre’s two-week trial and subsequent contract for the remainder of the season.

“My family questioned the toll on my sleep, but now they see the fruits of those early sacrifices,” Mhatre shared in an interview.

Despite financial difficulties, Ayush’s family ensured he lacked nothing in his quest for cricket glory. “My parents hid our financial struggles well, ensuring nothing demotivated me,” Mhatre remarked, appreciating his parents’ quiet sacrifices.
