Russell Domingo Takes the Helm: New Coaching Era Begins for Lahore Qalandars in PSL 2025

Leadership Shift at Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars have officially announced Russell Domingo as their new head coach for the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The change comes after Darren Gough resigned due to unavoidable personal commitments.

The Transition from Gough to Domingo

Darren Gough had previously taken the reins for Qalandars during the Global Super League in Guyana, with plans for a continued leadership in PSL 10. Despite the team’s early exit from the group stage, Gough’s strategic acumen was well-regarded, affirming the franchise’s confidence in his abilities for the forthcoming PSL season.

“It’s disappointing not to join the PSL this year due to personal commitments. I send my best wishes to the team. Once a Qalandar, always a Qalandar,” Gough commented, expressing his regret and ongoing support for the team.

Russell Domingo’s Vision for Lahore Qalandars

With Gough stepping down, Lahore Qalandars acted quickly, appointing Russell Domingo. Domingo brings extensive experience from his coaching stints with South Africa and Bangladesh, setting a robust foundation for his leadership.

“Joining the Lahore Qalandars feels exhilarating. I’m eager to start working with the players and management. We’re committed to delivering a thrilling season for our dedicated fans. I can’t wait to embark on this journey and strive for our third PSL title in four years,” said Domingo, showcasing his enthusiasm and commitment.

Upcoming Challenges and Opportunities

The Qalandars will commence their quest for another PSL title on April 11, facing the defending champions, Islamabad United, in Rawalpindi.
